Check-in Rules

1. Lucia’s Pet Care services many different pets including dogs, cats, fish, birds, hamsters, rabbits, reptiles, aqua pets, and other small caged/enclosed pets. Pets are all treated fairly.

2. For all pet care services, Pet Care Enrollment forms including Visiting Instructions, and Client Information, must be signed and completed by pet parents. Any information about your fur baby(s), especially any medical conditions, or illnesses should be notated, which will ensure a safe and successful stay. Flea/Illness Contract must be signed if applicable.

3. First-time clients must schedule a Meet and Greet for all new pets. This is a chance for me to come to your home and meet your pet. I can be shown how to best care for your pet(s), as well as learn feeding and enter/exit routines, etc. Please allow a maximum of 30 minutes.

4. Scheduled visits for check-ins are made between the hours of 9 am and 9 pm, within an hour window. Example: visits between 2-3 pm daily. After each visit, pet parents are given an update about their pet with photos.

5. For dog walks, a good quality harness and a traffic-handle leash for maximum control is needed, especially for bigger breeds, those who are overly excited during walks, or dogs with a high prey drive. If a dog has a high prey drive, a prong collar may be needed, however, the dog must be trained on a prong collar. Short and frequent walks will be taken to determine if walks can be performed safely. I may have leashes and harnesses available to use during walks. All dogs must be leash trained.

6. Due to safety concerns, I am unable to provide check-ins every other day. Visits must take place every day. No “every other day” visits for pets or overlooking other pets during visits. I treat all animals equally and cannot go more than 24 hours without checking on all animals. I want to make sure that your pet(s) are always safe in your absence.
